Their first three studio albums barely made any impact, and it wasn't until the release of Alive!, a live album, that the band achieved fame and popularity. Their subsequent works, most notably Destroyer and Love Gun, increased the group's popularity and earned them several platinum certifications. Following the departure of two of their founding members—Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent replaced Criss and Frehley, taking on the personalities of "The Fox" and "The Wizard," respectively—they released a few albums that didn't sell as well as they had hoped.
