The Doors were an American rock and blues band formed in Los Angeles, California in July 1965 and disbanded in 1973.[1] According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), The Doors have sold 33,000,000 certified album units in the United States. The band has sold over 100,000,000 albums worldwide. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked The Doors number 41 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.[2] They were the first American band to accumulate 8 consecutive gold records.
